The Silent Shredder - Aaron Day
All Articles Dec 9, 2009 | posted by daveIt's funny how BMX finds us. For me, it was some old atv track in my backyard that my uncle and dad built for my brothers. And the bikes I discovered around the age of eleven that were black chrome schwinn predators with skyway tuffs, and mongoose's with motomags laying under piles of leaves.
I remember the first road trip Aaron and I went on, a bunch of us went on, and I asked Aaron, how he even got bike parts where he lived? We knew somehow he got hooked, but how, he had jumps, but how'd he know how to build them? That was the funny thing about Aaron, he showed, up made an impression, and left everyone wondering, where the heck did that kid come from?
Well he came from Lewiston to show everybody he wasn't afraid to jump the biggest jumps in Jeremy's yard on a Yellow torker with hannebrink forks. If you don't know what those things are, well get with it, becuase Aaron could give you a history lesson quicker than any substitute teacher, and school you with the newest shit all at the same time, and leave you wonderiing "huh?" It's ok to be confused, a lot of us are.
But Aaron is far from confused, he sticks with what he knows, and does a damn good job of it. Don't give him a bunch of extra shit he doesn't need or really want, just give him a shovel, his bike, maybe a cheeseburger and a bun, and you'll find one content dude ripping it up for the last ten years.
Here's to you Aaron, happy birthday, you've given us all some good memories, especially the time you stumbled through my door after a heavy nite of partying and letting it rip on the neighbors floor, but we'll let you tell that one. Thanks for giving us someone fun to watch over the years.
